FAQ

    Nomad Layer FAQ

    What is Nomad Layer?

Nomad Layer is a network-state initiative built on Próspera, Honduras. It offers tax residency as a service for digital nomads, founders, and investors who want legal grounding and community without being tied to a single country.

    How does it work?

Nomad Layer operates as a “Layer 2” on Próspera — a special economic zone that serves as our legal foundation (“Layer 1”).
Residents pay a $5,000 annual tax to maintain their status as Próspera-based tax residents through Nomad Layer Co.

    What do residents receive?

    • Legal tax residency status in Próspera
    • Proof of residency certificate issued via Próspera
    • Access to a private global community of like-minded professionals
    • Inclusion in Nomad Layer’s events, governance, and shared infrastructure
    • Recognition within an emerging global network-state ecosystem

Is Nomad Layer a crypto project?

Nomad Layer is not crypto-enabled at this stage. It draws inspiration from decentralized governance and network-state design, but all applicable taxes can be paid with USD, Lempira, gold in standard units, or Qualifying Cryptocurrency.

    Why Próspera?

Próspera is a Special Economic Zone located on Roatán Island, Honduras. It operates under an autonomous legal and fiscal framework, recognized by Honduran law and international agreements, allowing residents to establish legitimate tax residency with flexibility and clarity.

    • Remote professionals, entrepreneurs, founders, and investors
    • Digital nomads seeking a credible legal home base
    • Individuals interested in sovereignty, self-discovery, and community

How is this different from traditional residency programs?

Traditional residency programs require relocation or minimum stay requirements. Nomad Layer allows you to establish tax residency remotely, backed by Próspera’s legal framework, with only a 7-day physical presence required each tax year.

Do I need to live in Honduras?

No. You can become a Próspera-based tax resident through Nomad Layer from anywhere in the world. Physical relocation is optional, but assistance is available if desired.

Yes. Próspera is a legally recognized jurisdiction under Honduran law with fiscal autonomy. Nomad Layer operates within this framework to provide compliant, transparent tax residency services.

Can this help reduce my taxes?

Potentially, depending on your home country’s tax laws. Many residents structure their affairs so that Próspera becomes their primary tax residence. Always consult your international tax advisor before making changes to your residency.

    Who operates Nomad Layer?

Nomad Layer is operated by Nomad Layer Co., a private company building the next generation of global residency infrastructure and governance systems.

    How do I join?

Apply directly through the Nomad Layer website. Once approved, you’ll receive your onboarding instructions, tax residency certificate, and access to the private community.
